Every year, a new generation of students arrives in Manchester, full of ambition and ready to make their mark on the world. Within our walls, we prepare students from all backgrounds to dream big, tackle global challenges, and become the leaders who will take us forward.
But for many, getting here wasn’t easy. Right now, rising wealth inequality threatens to put university further out of reach for those with the odds already stacked against them.
Some students will be the first in their family to go into higher education. Others will have faced difficult personal circumstances or grown up in low-income households.
At Manchester, education without barriers has been our principle since 1824 – but we can’t achieve this without your help. By making a gift today, you’ll give students the helping hand they need to get here – and to thrive once they do.
Will grew up in a low-income household and dreamed of becoming an accountant. But being the first in his family to go to university, the path ahead was uncertain.
