Will you help deliver the brain cancer breakthrough families are waiting for?

Brain cancer is one of the most devastating diseases a family can face. It takes more children’s lives than any other cancer.

Here at Manchester, researchers are working hard to change that.

They’ve already made incredible progress – but there’s still so much more to do for families affected by brain cancer.  Every moment matters – not just to make the next breakthrough, but to turn it into real treatments that save lives.

Your support will help scale up our brain cancer team –  by backing early-career researchers and bringing more brilliant minds into our labs. You’ll help drive urgent studies, test new therapies, and give researchers every chance to succeed.

Your gift today will help bring more brilliant minds into our labs and give our current team the time and tools they need to move faster.

You’ll help speed up diagnosis, improve treatment options, and bring new hope to patients and their families everywhere.

You’ll build on vital progress already underway

Petra Hamerlik and her team are already making real advances in the fight against brain cancer – like developing a fast, pain-free test that can detect brain cancer in a patient’s tears. Or using advanced technology to create genetic profiles of tumours in just 90 minutes to help doctors tailor treatments.

Despite the strides being made – families affected by brain cancer can’t afford to wait. To build on these discoveries and turn bold ideas into life-saving treatments, researchers need the right tools, time and support.

Your gift will help retain brilliant minds, bring in fresh talent, and give Petra’s team the best possible chance to succeed.

You’ll support the next generation of research leaders

Early-career researchers are the lifeblood of our labs. They bring fresh ideas, bold thinking and the energy to explore new approaches. But their funding is often short-term – which means promising work can be cut short before it leads to real breakthroughs.

With your support, these researchers will have the backing they need to keep going. And you’ll help bring more passionate scientists into our team – helping them move faster to a breakthrough families are waiting for.

Laura’s legacy

Laura Nuttall was just 18 when she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma. She was told she had 12 months to live – but she defied the odds and lived five extraordinary years before passing away in 2023.

Laura spent her final years raising awareness and supporting research, determined to change the future for brain cancer patients. Her family continues that mission today.

“Laura was passionate about changing the future through research. She was determined that no other family should face what we have faced.” – Nicola, Laura’s mum

Your gift today will help make Laura’s wish a reality – by giving researchers every chance to succeed.

You’ll help turn bold ideas into life-saving treatments. Challenge accepted?

Whether it’s improving early detection, testing new drugs or finding better ways to care for patients, your support will help Manchester minds move faster. And in turn, you’ll help bring us all closer to a breakthrough that families like Laura’s are waiting for.

The world urgently needs a brain cancer breakthrough. Challenge accepted?

Please donate today and help tackle brain cancer head-on.
